The installkit containts two components: the Multimediaplayer itself and the Monitor Watchdog. The player will autostart, you will find the Monitor in the system tray.

The Multimedia Player will play the content, and the Monitor will ensure the Player works, and perform things like rebooting the computer, putting it in sleep mode etc.

The Monitor will also prepare your computer for Digital Signage use. It will turn of certain notifications, make sure the computer doesn't go into power-saving mode etc. This ensures you don't have to remember doing all these changes yourself.

When the player is installed you have to configure some parameteres. Give it a name, a location (typically the name of the physical location it's in), assign some channels. If you want, select 3G mode if you are using a 3G modem or you for any other reason want to limit the amount of bandwidth the player uses. Note that this will also mean the player will will check with the servers more seldom and it will take longer to trigger updates of the content.

It's probably a good idea to have remote access to your computers - try Teamviewer, Logmein, GotoMyPC or the free TightVNC.  Most will do, but we perfer using www.teamviewer.com ourselves, both from a price and performance perspective.

Using Windows 8.X or even Windows 10? The player will work fine, but we suggest you use a Local Account and not the Microsoft Account which is the standard.

A Local Account is simply what you're used to from Windows XP / Vista / 7. A Microsoft Account is synced between computers (and phones and tablets!), so if you change the password on one device you will automatically change it on all the other computers also. That could cause real trouble and break things as auto-login, so make sure you know what you're doing if you still want to use a Microsoft account.  Make sure you read our blog post about Microsoft Accounts here, and a few tips and tricks about Windows 8.x in general here:

Already set up a Microsoft on you computer that you want to change to a local account? Check this link for how to convert back!
